Welcome...

At the eastern edge of the Armorican massif where the departments of Sarthe, Orne and Mayenne come together, the Alpes Mancelles welcomes you to an area of unspoiled beauty. Its hilly and wooded landscapes offer a terrific range of outdoor activities for all the family.

Designated a protected area for nature, the Alpes Mancelles will also captivate you through its charming villages which have kept all of their old-world character and history: places such as Fresnay-sur-Sarthe, classified as a " Little Town of Character"; Saint-Céneri-le-Gerei, classed as "One of the Most Beautiful French Villages in France"; and Bourg-le-Roi, a fortified village surrounded by medieval ramparts.

Famed for its hiking and walking trails, Saint-Léonard-des-Bois nestles between two hills called "Haut Fourché" and "Mont Narbonne" (203 and 217 meters high). These natural panoramic viewpoints offer breathtaking views above the river Sarthe.

Not far from St Léonard-des-Bois, you will find the highest point in all of the north-west of France, "Le Mont des Avaloirs" (417 meters high) between Saint-Pierre-des-Nids and Pré-en-Pail.
